The Forest Lake Montessori School was founded in 1973 as a non-profit organization. In November of 1975, the parents of enrolled children assumed responsibility for the school’s operation. The school has been parent-owned and operated since that time, which means that parents actively participate in the activities of the school, including administration, hiring of teaching staff, maintenance of equipment and materials, planning open houses and conducting fund raisers.

School Term

The school term for Forest Lake Montessori School will generally follow the Forest Lake Public School District 831 calendar.  Usually, school starts in September, after Labor Day, and runs a week or two in June.  School holidays and breaks will also follow the District schedule (see current school year calendar).

School Day
Regular school hours are 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon  (Monday - Friday)
Extended Day hours are 12:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday)                
Extended Day runs October through April. (This is an optional program for students who are 5 – 6 years old and have completed at least one year of Montessori Preschool.)
